Yes, those are tears in my eyes.  I know, I know.  I’m Gossip Girl.  When are feelings ever truly inflicted upon me?  But what can I say?  I guess deep down inside I do have a soul.  And an emotional one at that!  Ugh.  Okay, enough with the Grey’s Anatomy crap.  Let’s talk real drama!

Things over at the van der Woodsen apartment were not going too well.  Lily was still furious about Serena not going to Brown.  She blamed it all on Rufus.  If Lily had been in NY this past summer S would be in college right now.  How could Rufus have let Serena do this?  Lily and Rufus were practically in a cold war.  Brrr.  But luckily their kids noticed and decided to pull a Mills/Lohan and get their parents back together.  Serena, Eric, Dan and Jenny set Lily and Rufus up to meet and talk over their differences.  And omg it actually seemed to work!  Almost.  Before the kids could finish singing “Let’s Get Together,” Lily and Rufus were once again fighting.  Things weren’t looking too good.

Meanwhile, Blair was giving Nate’s girlfriend Bree a hard time.  She was convinced there was definitely something wrong with the Southern Belle.  No girl could ever be that nice.  Chuck thought Blair was just being Blair and therefore too critical.  But when Chuck went to apologize on behalf of his girlfriend he found out something very interesting about the Texan.  She had it out for Carter Baizen.  And to Chuck, any enemy of Carter was a friend of his.  Obviously, he wasn’t telling Blair about this interaction with Bree.  Now it looked like Chuck and Bree had a common target…

And guess who came back to New York?  Why, Georgina Sparks.  Bitch couldn’t stay away for too long.  She was back and meaner than ever.  And she was definitely none too happy to hear that Dan had moved on and was now happily together with Olivia Burke.  Georgina needed him to break up with that vampire knight ASAP.  So she enlisted Vanessa.  Vanessa had to help since Georgina knew the true identity of Scott Rosson.  Blackamail central!  Georgina had Vanessa convince Dan that he needed to be with someone who was not a movie star, from New York and whom he had history with.  Dan was confused.  When he told Jenny and Eric about the sitch, they figured it out.  Duh!  Vanessa was totally in love with Dan!  It was just so apparent.  Dan went to Vanessa to break the news that he was totally not into her like that.  But that’s when the truth finally came out:  Scott was in fact Dan’s brother.  OMFG!

But of course, Lily and Rufus couldn’t stay mad at each other for too long.  They loved one another.  The two came running back to each other and decided to get married.  Like now.  Serena took the wheel in organizing the entire thing.  With the help of Blair, Jenny, Dorota, Amalia and the new mean girls it looked like Lily and Rufus were going to be man and wife faster than you could say Doc Martens and slip dresses.

Dan wanted his dad’s wedding to go smoothly.  So he knew he needed to deal with Georgina and her explosive secret (and seriously, who knew what G would/could do…).  So in order to hold Georgina off for at least until after the wedding, Dan told her he wanted to be with her.  She was elated.  Georgina finally had her man back.  But then she got suspicious.  Not only did Dan not invite her to Rufus and Lily’s wedding but he also didn’t grab her ass when he kissed her.  That was so unlike him!  Georgina realized Dan was a big fat liar and it looked like she was going to bring him down.  Yikes to infinity.

At the wedding, things were going, let’s say, okay.  Carter showed up, much to Chuck’s surprise.  Turned out, Chuck had given him an ultimatum.  Carter could show up to the wedding and explain his Buckley situation to Serena or take the plane ticket Chuck gave him and skedaddle out of the country.  Looked like Carter was much braver than Chuck gave him credit for.  Or he just cared a lot for Serena.  By coming to the wedding he was going to see Bree and she would therefore be able to tell her family his exact whereabouts.  Carter confessed to Serena the truth about what happened with the Buckleys.  Turned out, he had run into a huge gambling debt and needed help.  So Carter pretended to fall for Bree’s cousin Beth Buckley and even proposed marriage to her.  If he married into the wealthy family then they would pay his debts and he’d be free.  But Carter grew a conscience and couldn’t actually go through with the wedding.  Now the Buckleys wanted Carter to pay.  Serena was way overwhelmed.  Her mother was getting married!  This was far too much to take in.

No wedding’s complete without an uninvited guest.  This wedding crasher was none other than Georgina.  And Scott Rosson.  OMG!  Georgina and Scott had become friends during her time in Boston and she told him about Lily and Rufus’ impending marriage.  He hopped a bus to New York in hopes of finally revealing the truth.  But when he got to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden he interrupted a very heated moment.  Lily and Rufus were arguing.  Again.  Was marriage really right for them?  They couldn’t agree on anything.  Lily didn’t understand who Scott was or why he was butting into such a personal conversation.  This of course, upset Scott and he ran off.  That’s when Dan and Vanessa had to come clean to Lily and Rufus.  Scott wasn’t their child’s brother.  He was their actual child.  Georgina was happy.  Her work to ruin lives was complete.  Oh, Georgina.  You are beyond evil.

Lily was horrified at the way she acted towards Scott.  Clearly, that was not the first impression she would have liked to make.  So She and Rufus went out to search for Scott.  When they found him, they were relieved.  Lily was so happy to finally be able to hold the son she gave up twenty years ago.  She had dreamed of that day ever since Scott was born.  The family had a threeway hug and yes, water began flowing out of my eyes.  Pass the tissues, please.

Who needed the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, fancy food and Mayor Bloomberg?  Lily and Rufus sure didn’t.  They switched their wedding venue to the Humphrey loft and had a much more intimate ceremony and reception.  With Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth officiating, Lily and Rufus exchanged their vows.  It only took a little more than twenty years but it finally happened.  Amen!  And it was truly moving.  Van der Woodsens (plus Chuck) and Humphreys were officially one big happy family.

Serena was devastated about the stuff Carter had told her.  He was obviously not the guy she thought he was.  But then Chuck confessed to Serena about the ultimatum he had given Carter.  It seemed that Carter really did have strong feelings for Serena.  Now Serena was worried.  And she had a right to be.  The Buckleys ended up getting their hands on Carter and took him off.  To where?  No idea.  Hoping there’s some sort of escape in sight for Carter Baizen…

Nate realized that Bree was not actually into him.  In fact, she had used him just to get Carter.  Um, rude much?  Who does Bree Buckley think she is that she could just use Nate Archibald?  Girl’s obviously loony.

Dan was happy for his dad but mad that Georgina once again came out unscathed.  That sneaky life ruiner!  However, Blair informed Dan there was a certain fate awaiting Georgina.  And that fate came in the form of Vanya, Dorota’s boyfriend and van der Woodsen doorman.  He came onto Georgina at a bar and told her he was Prince Alexi from Belarus.  Vanya invited her to come with him to his country that night.  She agreed to go with him (I mean, hello he told her he’s a Prince and G is crazy).  I’m hoping he’s taking her somewhere very, very far away.  YES!

Finally getting to see Lily and Rufus tie the knot was something we’ve all been waiting for.  And it couldn’t have been better!  Sonic Youth performed, all their kids were in attendance (including Scott) and there was an abundance of love between everyone.  This was a wedding we’ll remember forever.  And, you know what?  Sometimes between all the drama and scandal, it’s refreshing just to have a happy ending.  Don’t you agree?  I do.  Xoxo Gossip Girl
